I Don't Wear Pants to Work

So we are sitting at the table eating lunch today and hubby begins to brag that he was finally able to button up his pants with his broken arm now!! Grandmommy asked him what he does at work and he responded " I don't wear pants to work". Well, we all just sat there and looked at him waiting for him to clarify such a statement and he never did! Well eventually he figured out what he said and clarified that he just wears warm up pants. Whew, I was starting to worry if he broke more than just his arm!!
Bear the puppy experienced the beach for the first time today. He really enjoyed himself as evidenced by the sack of puppy sprawled out and snoring!
Tonight takes us to the movies and dinner, hope BB and DQ will enjoy this, as these days to go to the movies is a small fortune by the time you pay for the tickets, popcorn and pop. Yes, we are those type of people who actually buy the food there and don't sneak it in. I just can't in good conscious do that- I'm sure my checkbook would not mind sneaking it in though!
Happy New Year to all, and all a good night!!

When I say NO I Mean NO!!

This morning BB was annoying DQ as usual and this was overheard " when I say no I mean no!" I wish I had a recorder so that I can play that over and over when I am trying to reason with them about why they can't jump off the roof, paint the walls neon colors, put the dog in the dryer, ect ect. (smile) Seriously though, I found it so funny to hear her and realize how much they pick up listening to their parents!!

So Christmas is over (frown), and on to the New Year. As I sit (yeah, I have time to sit! ) and ponder over the dreaded resolutions I have decided that I am not going to make one. I am going to set a vision; details pending..... I hope everyone had a blessed day, I know we enjoyed the day just playing and napping and eating. We always enjoy just staying home and doing absolutely nothing. We did join hubby's family last evening for a few hours, but we just had us and it was fabulous.

Tomorrow takes us the the beach to see my parents. I am really looking foward to this, I love it there. They live in this great condo with the neatest group of people. They have been so blessed with the group of friends they have made down there! In fact, they party all the time it seems!! AHHH, the good life of retirement. I hope when hubby and I retire ( if that still exists when we reach that age) we will be as blessed with loved ones as they are. I always look forward to visiting!! Merry Christmas to the crew at the beach and I'm looking forward to seeing you all!

What is Your Vision?

As I sit and ponder over today's SS lesson taught by my very wise teacher (who also happens to be my big brother in law-- love you hubby boss man), I got to thinking ; what is my vision?
God has blessed my family and I in so many ways, yet I seem to always be focusing on what we don't have. We got into quite a discussion about this in SS, keying in on why do we wait till we are in our worst pain to really seek God and His vision for us. This Christmas I want to encourage you to seek God's vision for you and your loved ones. Is it to succeed in worldly ways or heavenly ways? Does your vision for yourself match up with God's vision for you?
I know that I definitely have some things to pray about.
Let us remember what a sacrifice Jesus made to fulfill God's vision, what are you willing to sacrifice?
Thank you hubby boss man for an excellent word!
Merry Christmas, and God bless.

I Know I know, It's illegal to beat your kids......

Do you ever have one of those afternoons and evenings where you wish we were a group of barbarians who beat their children? Well if you are one of those who are actually admitting to having those thoughts ( you know you are!!) then we should have coffee!! Don't get me wrong, I adore those two little twerps and would never take to beating them, but as I listen to them running a screaming around the house, even after being told several times to settle down, I am slowly losing my mind!!
Hubby is still suffering from a lot of pain, and I am suffering from insanity! Lord help me; Calgon--take me away!!!!!!!!
Anyway, on the lighter side of things, I am almost done with my Christmas shopping, a great feat in itself! I am very pleased with hubby and mine's selection this year. I only hope that one day BB and DQ will appreciate the thought and love that goes into this!!
Hope all is well in web land for you, and I hope that you have managed to dig out some Christmas spirit.

Update

The break is much more severe than we initially were told, so please keep hubby in your prayers. He is in much pain and just can't seem to get comfortable. Last night we had to go back to the ER for severe pain, the arm was not set properly which probably made the swelling worse. Also, he sprained several fingers. Poor hubby!!!
He did however manage to keep the Dawg spirit and is the proud owner of a sporty black cast! Go hubby!!! The ultimate DAWG fan.
To my dear neighbor, we love you and your oldest and youngest!

Who Knew?

For those of you that are familiar with sports and the like this will be of no surprise to you. I however, only know what hubby shares with me; unless of course it is a sport I happen to like. Anyway, who knew that flag football was actually capable of causing injury? Well I now know that. All I have to do is look at hubby and his broken wrist!!!!!!
That's right people, my big strong hubby broke his right wrist today playing flag football with some of his buddies from Sunday School. He came home early while I was in the midst of finding the bottom of the stairs (which was/is currently buried beneath shoes) and had this look on his face that clearly read, I'm a big boy and I'm not going to cry but I sure wish I could!! He proceeded to tell me that we needed to go to the ER because he broke his arm. Naturally I thought, yea yea, you big wimp your fine-- not so much, it's definitely broken. Needless to say, he's getting a cast this week. To show his support for the Black Out at the Sugar Bowl he will be selecting black for his cast. GOOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!
.......... Next time I think maybe he can come up with a better way to support the DAWGS, but hey at least they'll know they are loved!

But I Want It My Way!!

I just don't understand why people won't just do it my way??? Do you ever just really ask yourself that question? I definitly think that the world just be a much better place "they" would ask me how it needs to be done.
For future reference, just ask me next time people! Those "they" people need no longer concern themselves anymore, take the day off "they"!
(smile)

Lowered Standards and Great Expectations

For those of you new to my world let me just fill you in. I am a mother of a 9 yr old boy and an 8 yr old girl. I am a wife of a husband in a very crazy business, and I am a senior in nursing school. All of that plus church, household, part time job equals insanity. The question I am asking myself at the moment is "When did I lower my standards?" The reason I ask this is because today I had my final and was jumping for joy that I got a C!!!! When I started nursing school a B was the end of the world, now I'm just happy to pass!!
Just a little background, I entered nursing school with a 3.9, anal retentive, and more than a little arrogant that I, Amy H., almost 30 something was accepted into one of the toughest programs in the state. I just knew getting in was the hard part and it was easy street from here on out. Well, those great expectations were quickly stomped down to the level of man if I pass I am the bomb!
You know that when you are figuring out what you need to score to achieve the coveted 70% for the quarter then you have definitely lowered your standards.
Regardless, I am thankful that the Lord has given me this chance to work in a field where my gifts for mercy and compassion are key. I get the opportunity to meet new people who actually need someone to just make them feel better and I will get to help do that for them. If I sound as though I am complaining about nursing school I am, but I am grateful for nursing school as well.
To those of you who are nurses, you have such a special job and I can't wait to join the ranks-- if I can meet those wonderfully high standards and great expectations!

Diamond Rings, Pretty Panties, and Fabulous Shoes

Before you read any further let me warn you that is a G rated site!! I know the title of this post sounds a bit racy but I promise it's not!!
I have a 3ish niece who is just the cutest little mess ever!! She recently went to the mall with mommy and Grandmommy to have her ears pierced with "diamonds". She then proceeded to inform her daddy that she would like to have a diamond ring on her finger as well thank you very much! ( Hey daddy, I want one too!!!!) Now keep in mind that they are also in potty training mode at her house. Her twin brother was getting big boy underwear and mommy told Miss Stuff that she had pretty panties for her if she would use the potty--well all of a sudden she's ready to use the potty!!! ( What you need to understand is that this girl does what she wants when she's good and ready to do so!!) We can't have a diamond ring without pretty panties to match!! I love you sweet pea!
So, has anyone ever tried to find a fabulous pair of high heels in a size 5?( Not to mention, selling BB and DQ to buy them isn't exactly an option.) After hitting every store I could think of I finally found a pair. Not exactly fabulous but they'll do-- I suppose! The day I find the perfect everything I want I'll let you know, until then I guess I'll just suffer with every other American woman!

A Vacuum Cleaner or a Shoe?

BB has posed the question of the day. Mom, what's harder to lose: a vacuum cleaner or a shoe? You may be asking, what prompted such a question? Well let me explain!
I did it people, I lost my vacuum cleaner! Don't ask how but the important thing is that it has been found! Anyway, this morning during our usual getting ready for school attempt BB was missing 1 shoe. I asked, how do you lose just one shoe???? ( I was rather frustrated as this is a daily event) His snappy response was "Which is harder to lose? A vacuum cleaner or a shoe?" I had to give the little guy credit for that one! Needless to say I promptly apologized and we found the shoe together!

You Want What For Christmas?

Okay, So BB wants one of Santa's reindeer, a pet chipmunk, and and elf. Hmmmmm, where do you get those from? DQ the local princess has gone from a list of Bratz dolls and Littlest Pet Shop to Bionicles and a skate board. Is this a trick or are we headed down tomboy alley??
So DQ went to her math tutor today and actually had her tutor doing the happy dance!! Yea DQ! Shortly after DQ was in tears because she is grounded, and BB won't play with her, and BB gets all the attention, and yada yada yada---can you guess what DQ stands for?? 20 pts to the first correct guess!
This weekend hopefully has some Christmas spirit in store for us--we have hubby's company Christmas party! This is always a cherished event as we get to go to Stoney River; only the best food EVER!!!!! In case you are interested in this wonderful cuisine, it is in Duluth, GA.
I plan to post pictures and a profile this weekend to further avoid studying for the dreaded final on Monday--so hopefully that will get this new adventure of mine off the ground.
Take care and happy Thursday to all you out there in web land!

My First Blog!!

Well, here I am taking on another project that I don't have time for! I am new to blogging but enjoy reading other's so why not write my own?
As for me, I am in the process of not studying for my upcoming final on Monday morning. I figure I really need to atleast review, but I just can't seem to do so!
BB is downstairs sleeping in his very own sauna, and DQ is currently "doing back flips" in her bed as hubby says. One thing I can count on no matter what time of night in this house is a voice from somewhere... tv or otherwise!
As Christmas approaches I am finding that I have absolutely no Christmas spirit what so ever! The house is decorated sans the tree, and the stockings are hung with very little care. Maybe after finals!
Goodnight all!

Come check me out!!
