Hearing???

Tonight as we were driving home from church hubby started giving a dead guy speech (see previous entries) about honesty. After this long winded discussion DQ blurts out "Daddy, I was looking at the wall!!" Of course she was referring to dinner time when daddy told her to eat and quit playing and she insisted she was.

As a think about this, I wonder, do they listen, do they hear us?? NOPE!! I figure about 80% of what they hear all day goes in one and out the other. BB told me once that his brain was full and everything was just oozing out his ears. Quite the visual don't you agree?

Think back (way back for some of us) to when you were a kid. Did it ever occur to you that we remember mostly what we saw, not what we heard? Probably because we weren't listening!! Whaaa Whaaa Whaaaa!!!! My ears were definitely oozing-- how about yours? In fact, most days my ears still ooze! Heaven help us all!!!!!! (Aaahhhh, gotta love those word pictures)

Finally!!

Well, she's 8 1/2 yrs old, and DQ has lost her first tooth!! She walked around with her top front tooth sticking straight out for 2 wks, until BB head butted her, and out came the tooth. Man, if one is this hard, how hard are the rest gonna be?

Not much going on in H world, just busy busy busy! BB and I are headed to the orthodontist for our 2nd consult to see if he's ready for braces. He actually wants them! What, buddy, just wait. Of course I'm not speaking from personal experience, I was never cursed with braces. I chose to have a show horse instead-- another story for another day.

Bear the puppy loves the rain, we have a wicked storm going on and he keeps begging to go play in it! Then he comes in dripping wet and shaking everywhere. Spike the dog however will tuck tail and run and the first drop to fall!! (Literally)

Well, we are off to the torture chair, oh, I mean dentist, sorry!

didn't work

Celebrities

I have many celebrities that I love to follow. I know it's weird, but people fascinate me. People magazine is one of my favorites!! All this to say, that while I love people, there is no celebrity more special to me than the one's in my own family.

You have read correctly, I have celebrities in my family. My father in law is in the movie My Cousin Vinny. He eats a whole chicken leg in one bite!! Now, hubby and DQ have made the front page of the Walton Tribune!!!!

I am attempting to post this picture and a link-- wish me luck!!

Oh me.....

Yesterday I worked, and it's a day I'll never forget. I lost my first patient yesterday, a 12 hr old baby. I will never ever forget that sweet face for as long as I live. I can find solace in knowing that he is with our glorious Father in heaven. Please pray for his mommy and daddy.

On the lighter side of things, Bear the puppy has gone a committed animalcide again. Kermit this time. The poor little froggy's cotten insides are covering the floor of BB's room. DQ was quite upset and Ms. Wellborn at school gave her this frog from her own special collection.

I would like to use this opportunity to give it up for hubby. He washed laundry all day yesterday for me and then got the kids ready for church this morning without me. You understand that these are not his usual chores, so he really went out and did something more special for me than he will ever know. Thankyou hubby, I love you.

Spike is doing a bit better. She is still pretty sore, but definitly on the mend. She's barking and wagging her tail. She is a little upset with me however, as I won't let her down to play. Strict bed rest says her vet. We have decided that maybe she's "hurt" because she wants to go see Dr. Bates again-- he's rather cute. (smile)

Happy Sunday to all, I'm off to church, then to finish writing a paper for school.

Valentine's Day....... A day late

For those of you that actually like Valentine's day---happy day! For those of you like me... hope you managed to survive the endlessly long lines at Wal-Mart!!! I don't mean to be a scrooge, or unromantic, or what have you, but I think Valentine's day is nothing but a money scheme!! Hubby and I were talking about it last night and we both decided that we don't need a special holiday to tell each other how we feel!
BB and DQ don't embrace our theory however, so they were the proud recipients of yet another Webkinz!!
This week finds us doing just fine. Our little Spike (weiner dog) has gone and hurt her back, and we are devastated. For all you animal lover's out there you understand, it's like one of your children. We are doing our best to keep her comfy while this injury hopefully heals.
I am finding myself jealous of DQ tonight as she has a date with hubby. They are going to a school dance. He is picking her up at her room about 6pm for dinner and dancing--lucky little squirt! BB and I are planning to catch Spiderwick--should be interesting!
Speaking of dogs, Bear the puppy (also a weiner dog) has gone and pulverized a stuffed bunny so I must go and dispose of the remains. Poor little Thumper, he never had a chance!!

What do you think?

BB's 4th grade English teacher has posed the question, which do you think is better, the past or the present? Naturally most of the children have chosen the present. As I read BB's paper defending his choice of the present I began to really think about this question, which is better?

I have chosen the past. BB's reason's for the present are similar to mine for the past.

Technology: this is the day of email, text messaging, and GPS. Well I don't know about you but I prefer talking on the phone or just walking across the street for a good hearted chat. As far as GPS goes, I can't find my backyard with a map let alone navigate a GPS. What ever happened to the good old "Go about a mile and turn left at Mr. Jeff's BP"? That's GPS at it's finest!!!

Medical care: stem cell research and cloning is just freaky, and antiobiotics are way over used and not getting the job done anymore, need I say more?

As far as video games, computers, and other such modern entertainment gadgets: well, who remembers the good old days when you came in for lunch, a band aid, a snack, and a jar to catch lightning bugs? BB and DQ, you will not get a cell phone so I can call you to come home because I can just stand out on the porch and call your name!! (smile)

Please don't misunderstand, I have become just as spoiled by all these modern day conveniences as everyone else, but man don't you miss chasing the ice cream truck???

I am Blessed

Yesterday I was speaking with a friend on the phone, well rather complaining to a friend on the phone, really feeling sorry for myself. We have had a challenging week here in Hworld, and I decided that my week was definitly worth other's hearing about. Turns out, as usual, I was oblivious to the world around me.
A couple in our church was found murdered in their home. We knew this couple, not really well, but we have been to their home and taught their son in SS for a few years. I'll spare you the details, but their son was arrested last night for this crime. I am absolutely floored.
As I think about this and other events taking place in the lives of some around me, I AM BLESSED!!!!! Life's little troubles can be so cumbersome, yet we learn and we grow from those little troubles. A lovely woman at my church says it best: But God. Yes maam, But God. He has a plan and a purpose for each of us. He loves us all and though sometimes we may feel down and out, we are not. I pray for each of you I know, and those I don't. He loves you, wants to know you, wants you to love and know Him. He is. He will always be. As I walk through this life and things I just don't understand happen I must remember He does understand them!!! He knew it would happen, and He is the ultimate counselor.
Please join me in prayer for this dear family. Pray for this boy, pray for these friends, please just pray. My first reaction was one of anger and shock. Is this right? Is this surprising? I don't know, yes, no, not really. Did I pray hard enough? NO, did you? "Pray without ceasing"

Come check me out!!
