Can You Believe It????

Do you ever wonder if there are some things that maybe you are just not meant to do, no matter how bad you want to? Well I think I've discovered my thing. I am not supposed to be a pet owner. I am a pet owner, but I'm not sure I should be one! Let me explain. Spike the dog never had a sick day in her life till this past summer. She ate a roll of toilet paper (seriously, ate the whole thing). Well that led to two seperate surgeries. Then this winter she began to have a few minor back issues. Then, Friday night I caught Bear the puppy with a Hershey's kiss in his mouth. I assumed he was the only culprit----WRONG!!! About 2:30 am Spike the dog made it clear that she in fact was the main culprit. She wound up in the emergency room for about 12 hours-- man! Then on Sunday, Bear the puppy happened upon a full bottle of Rimadyl (doggy tylenol) and ate the whole thing!!!!! Like I said before, maybe I'm just not cut out for the doggy thing!

Moving on.... the answer to the cowboy lasso question is..... Pecos Bill!! Heee Haawww. I knew everyone out there was smarter than a 4th grader! However, I am not smarter than a 4th grader.

Today is a very special day. Indeed it is one of the most special days!! I would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUBBY!!! I LOVE YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!

How Smart Are You?

Tonight at BB and DQ's school we had a special event called Empty Bowl night. You pay a $3 donation and get a meal of chili and salad. Also, the kids made pinch pots that we got as a prize. The proceeds go to the Fish which will provide lunches every day this summer for underprivilegded children. A worthy cause and the chili was very tasty. Also tonight was dedicated to preparing for the CRCT (standardized tests). This is where it got funny. The 4th grade set up a quiz show called Are You Smarter Than a Fourth Grader?. It was hilarious. Parents against the kids, and of course the kids kicked our tails!! However, one mom and I have decided that our buzzers were rigged because I pushed that button and it didn't buzz!! By the way, which story features the cowboy who uses a rattle snake for a lasso? That was the one I didn't know. ( I know now, do you? ) (Fab, you don't count!!!)

We have some exciting stuff happening here in Hworld. We booked our very first trip to Disneyworld!!!! I am soooo excited! When I called the number to set everything up they played Disney music. It was great and really got me revved up! We will be going June 4- June 10--- Wooo Hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The next thing is that I had a job interview this week. It went very well. About mid April I will begin interviewing with dept managers to establish my interests in what department I am most interested in (does that make sense?). My top three choices are ICU, NICU, and Labor and Delivery. I work in L&D now and really enjoy it, but ICU just really is fascinating to me. Also, ICU nurses are bad!! I mean they are the stuff!!! LOL

The weather has been so wonderful, but man I hate allergies!! When I find my face again (swollen and itchy) I'll be a happy girl, until then Claritan is my new best friend!

Good night and God Bless,
Amy

AAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Ok, I feel a little better- let me just scream one more time AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Do you ever just get so frustrated with absolutely EVERYTHING? Well, I do and I am! I love my DQ, but she is driving me crazy! I love Bear the puppy but he is driving me crazy! I love my life, but I'm going crazy!!!
Two examples.... This morning we are late, I mean we have to be at school in 5 minutes to avoid the tardy bell. DQ and I are walking down the stairs and all of a sudden she screams "Wait mommy! It's important! I forgot something!!" So she proceeds to run to her room for this life or death item.... a cardboard box that her puppy brush came in so I can take care of her stuffed pug while she's at school! AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! This morning (yet again) walking Bear the puppy he won't go poop. I put him back in his kennel and got the kids ready for school. I got Bear the puppy out and let him go with us. When we got home I took him for another nice long walk, no poop. I brought him in, fed him , and took him out AGAIN!!! No poop. A few minutes ago I go downstairs to gather BB's laundry and there is a nice big pile of ..... YEP! POOP!!!!! AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
I guess I should maybe just go right back to bed-- what do you think?

Study Break

Well, I'm doing everything I possibly can to relax, tough thing to do! So far today I've studied for a couple of hours, gone grocery shopping, went to Starbucks, did 2 loads of laundry, and now I'm avoiding studying some more. (Don't worry mom I've been studying this stuff for 3 wks now, I'll be ok!!)

Lately I've been hearing some funny words and phrases that I'd like to share. The key to this little entry is that I would like you to respond with your own funny words, or meanings to the words I post. I'm desperate for a good laugh!! BTW, I've enabled this blog to accept all comment posts for those of you that don't have gmail or blogger addresses so feel freee to comment (hint hint). Here goes

1. Caddy wompous
2. Discombobulated
3. Fooglesnap
4. Uffdu
5. How bout them apples
6. Shyster
7. Chillax
8. freeze in motion
9. holy moose
and finally
10. good gravy

These words and phrases are some we here at hworld use quite a bit, not really sure what they all mean, but we somehow understand what the other is saying!!! Yea, we're just a bunch of crazy party animals around here!!!!

Guess What?

OK, is everyone sitting down? I have a HUGE announcement. Now prepare yourself, this is big and I wouldn't want anyone to hurt themselves.........

I NEVER HAVE TO WRITE ANOTHER CARE PLAN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
Ha, gotcha didn't I? Yea, I know I did!
Seriously, for a nursing student this is a major milestone! Careplans for those of you who don't know me, are a nightmare! They take hours, and they are forever long (I've had them as long as 65 pages and as short as 21). You have to do so much work and to top it off, at our school you don't get a grade. It has no weight on your final grade other than if you don't do it and don't do it right then you fail clinical. OUCH!!
So I know mine are a little young for "tiny talk", so we'll call it quotes overheard.
BB "Geez, you could have at least said bombs away!" (to DQ) Guess what that means? Nice huh?

So this has been quite a weekend for us here in the Atlanta area. Tornadoes everywhere. Fortunately we here in Loganville were spared, however many places very close to us were not so lucky; Atlanta proper included. Please keep these people in your prayers.

I don't have much else to say,and Fab's YC is here raising havoc (j/k fab!!), so goodnight bloggo people!

Changing times

Times they are a changin. Do I like this? Eehh, depends on the changes.
Last weekend the kiddo's and I were driving along chattering about this and that and it hit me: my babies are getting big!! I mean BIG!! BB was talking about the end of the school year coming up and the traditions his school has. Apparently there is quite a tribute paid to the leaving 5th graders. Then BB pointed out that next year he will be a 5th grader!!! DQ will be a 4th grader!!! OK, I'm not dense, I knew this, but I didn't KNOW this. We have 2 years of elementary school left-- I still remember the first day of preschool. Oh my heart is breaking! Gone are the days of PB&J otter, rolling on the kitchen floor in a fit of giggles, kool aide moustaches, and sleepy after nap snuggles. Here comes the days of I need $5, can I spend the night with so and so, and what is SEX??? Oh my aching heart!
The other change facing me is I'm about to be a college/nursing school graduate. That is a good and a bad thing in my mind. I've loved being a stay at home mommy (but your kids need to actually be here for that to count!). Also, what excuse am I going to have for my endless pile of laundry, sink full of dishes, and car that looks like a trash can? I won't be able to pawn that off on studying any more---hmmmmm, any ideas what I can use now? The up side is no more care plans, scary instructors and 4 hr exams!!! I guess you just have to take the good with the bad and do the best you can. In the mean time I think I'm gonna snuggle with my babies today!

What? How?

Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt in my daughter's abilities. However, how in the world does a child who can't remember anything regarding school get into the gifted program? Well, she did!!! Yea DQ!! We are so proud of you, and we love you! Now, learn your multiplication and the world will be right!
Now, on to another topic of interest! Why do the heck do people like those trees that bloom white in the spring (Bradford Pears? something like that)? They are making me miserable! Not only do they smell bad, but I'm highly allergic to them and they are everywhere. They are rather pretty and a great way to bring spring into view, but they are like a snake in the grass; you have know idea what's about to nail you right between the eyes (literally).
Spring break is approaching, however I'm dreading it. Here in our little Walton county school system the children get two weeks off. Usually I get one week with them and then they go to my mother for a week. Well this year I get the last week in March and they get the first two weeks in April. Guess what? That ain't workin for me! I am highly ticked off that I don't get any spring break with my munchkins! I think a letter to someone is in order; maybe a petition! Any takers?

Conviction

Well, Bear the puppy has moved from animalcide to cellacide. He has graduated from torturing DQ and eating her beloved stuffed animals, and moved on to me and eating my behated cell phone. ARRRGGGG!!! Remind me again why we felt it necessary to get BB a puppy? J/K, even though he's a bit of a pain in the you know what, we still love him. Yea, love him, the snuggly, furry, kissy little beast!
We have had a nice weekend. Yesterday we slept in till about 10 am. That was absolutely fabulous. Hubby and I layed in bed and watched a movie we've never seen, then we all got up and got dressed. We spent some time at hubby big bro's house then went to the boat show at the mall. We got hubby some much needed clothes, then came on home. We all had what we wanted for dinner, then watched another movie, then off to bed. Ahhh, a nice unstressful day. Today however has been a bit different. I've been cooking since we got home from church for about 20 people, and hubby has tackled the laundry. Atleast we can say we've been productive!!
So today at church our pastor is doing a series called the final four. It's really pretty cool--he's talking about the last days of Jesus's life and what really took place vs. what we like to see took place. He's using the book of Mark. I was reminded today during his sermon of the story where Jesus cursed the fig tree (Mark 11:12-15). In the side notes it discusses how the fig tree showed promise of fruit but did not produce any. Jesus was frustrated at the people and used the fig tree as a way to express his thoughts and feelings. One minute the people are praising Him and waving Him into town with palm branches (Mark 11:1-10), and then a few days later were part of the crowd yelling to kill him. Not only does this show us hipocracy, but also how we as christians sometimes (most times for me) lead a "religious life" without substance. We show promise of fruit, but do actually bear the fruit? If you claim to have faith in your life without putting it to work in your life, you are like the barren fig tree.
Hope all had a good weekend!!!

Better

OK, sorry about my brief moment of insanity on the change of my layout. Those colors literally made my eyes see spots!! I was having a bout of insomnia ( not really, Starbucks at 10:00 at night was really the cause), and got bored with tv. I am wanting to add some stuff so stay tuned for many changes (hopefully). I found an absolutely adorable blog and am trying to make some changes like hers!!

Hope all is well in bloggityville, all is just fine here in Hworld. The kiddos have no school today so we all slept in till 8:30( yes, that is sleeping in), and now we are discussing going to IHOP for breakfast. DQ wants Horton Hears a Who pancakes yuck!! They are nothing but pink and blue frosting with a huge pink lollipop sticking out the top. Talk about a sugar fix!

The latest and the greatest here at Hworld is that we are attempting to work out our first trip to Disneyworld. My big sis and her fam (HI Schwebbies!!!) are going in June and I'm dying to see them! The problem as always is nursing school. I think we can work out a few days in common with them, I hope. For those near and dear to me who have been, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always wanted to ride Space Mountain, and BB can't wait to go to Animal Kingdom and see an Okapi up close.

Pray for me ya'll ( there's that southern thang), I have my very last clinical ever tonight!!! Then I will be a big girl student nurse off the preceptorship where I'm allowed to touch patients. (Pu-leeze! Drama Queen much Amy?) Sorry, it's just that when you're in nursing school you are watched VERY closely as you are working under your instructor's lisence. I guess I can understand their caution, to a point anyway!!!

Well I guess I should stop ignoring BB and DQ and attempt to nourish their little bodies with sugar, sugar, sugar, and ummmm, sugar!!!!

The South

Ahhhh, the south. I love it here. For those of you that are totally out of my loop, I grew up in South Dakota, but have transplanted (rather well) to Georgia about 9 yrs ago. I married a southern boy ( redneck says my dad), and am currently raising southern children. Some days I fit right in, and some days I just have to laugh.
Last Thursday night I was at clinical till about 11pm. I called hubby on the way home to be told BB broke his toe. What???? I leave you alone for a few hours and we have broken bones? What happened??? Well........ "BB takes the lead. Bear (the puppy) is close behind. BB rounds the corner with Bear bringing up the rear. Wait! Bear takes the inside right and BB takes the wall!" OMG!! I laughed my butt off!
The following morning DQ and I hobbled BB to class. As I was walking back to the car I ran into a friend of mine in the parking lot. (Shamrelle, I don't know where you are from, but if your from GA you don't show it.) Anyway, in her most southern accent possible, her morning went like this. "We had no power this morning. I was so ticked off!! I had a friend on the phone and she told me what was going on. The electricity fell off the pole and the now the field is on Faire!!!!" (yes, faire, say it out loud, then you'll get it) So funny!
When hubby and I were engaged I was having him check out my battery in my car as it needed a good cleaning. Naturally I told him that there was a cleaner thingamajiggy in the garage on dad's desk. His response was " A what??? All you do is just pour a coke on it!!" My dad overheard this and said " You are a redneck aren't you boy?" Ahhhh, the south!!!
I could go on all night, but I guess I'll stop now. Honestly, I love it here. I loved SD too, so don't go gettin' your britches in a twist!!!! ( See, I fit in well here!)

Come check me out!!
